Decked Out is a graphic designers take on pattern making. Where two different fonts meet are the borders and lines within the pattern. The text is taken apart and collaged, allowing the viewer to get lost and make new connections in the text as they scroll and resize the page. This is then translated to print and used for patterns on origami papers. A technique to transform sheets of paper to sculptures, to be kept, given away, cherished. Each fold transforming the pattern yet again.
Taking the Pattern and Decoration movement as a starting point, Decked Out is a publication that investigates and challenges the standards we have in the art and design world by celebrating the P&D movement and rejecting the Eurocentric and sexist biases that have put rational and minimalist conceptual art on a pedestal for years.
